Vacuum Tube - ECC803 / 12AX7, JJ Electronics, Long Plate
The JJ Electronic ECC803 is a high performance, long plate version of the ECC83 / 12AX7. Like all JJ preamp tubes, these are built into a rugged package using the spiral filament and robust plate structure resulting in low microphonics and high reliability. The long plate version of this tube differs from the standard version with its stronger and fuller sound which offers a wider and more balanced frequency response. This tube ranges from deep rich lows to pristine highs covering a spectrum of harmonically dynamic mids along the way. This tube is an excellent choice for any guitar amp and perfect for studio and Hi-Fi equipment as well. This tube will work in any 12AX7 or ECC83 position.
RoHS Compliant

Product Reviews
Sound great in my Fender Reverb tank. Shipped fast and carefully packed. Thank you
this tube s exactly what I was looking for for my first generation SWR Redhead. Smooth sound to quite a bit of bite if I want it. Improved bass performance and super clear highs. Perfect for studio and live performance. Couldn't be happier. Great company, fast shipment.
Replaced a standard 12 AX7 with this JJ long Plate version and am very happy with it's performance in the preamp section of a guitar amplifier. Great tube and promptly delivered! Thanks!!
Love these puppies for the preamp section, never disappoints!
Just installed them in my EVH Stealth 100 W and those are fantastic. Always a pleasure placing an order here, fast and securely delivered.
I compared several 12AX7 tubes and thought, especially at this price, that this tube is very good. It's maybe a bit muddier than the Mullard CV4004 but that may be handled through tone controls. I wasn't adjusting between tubes to try to get some continuity in comparison. I also tried the JJ E83CC which I thought was shrill, brassy, unpleasant and much more expensive.
I bought a set of four for my Fargen 1968 Lead/Bass plexi clone, and surprisingly, JJ ecc803s is perhaps the best sounding current production preamp tube I have heard. the high and low end response are even with a good bump in the mids, without the thickening of the lower mids. Brighter than the regular JJ ecc83. The clarity the notes are excellent that I can hear the separation of notes when strumming. This is not a high gain tube like Tungsol or Shuguang, but the JJ ecc803s far excels on the edge of breakup/crunch setting. Perhaps the gain is equivalent to the current prod Mullard 12ax7 (The Mullard seems to have a neutered top end response compare to JJ ecc803s).
Highly recommend to Plexi owners out there.
I bought this tube to test in my Blackstar HT-5R along with a few others to see what they would do to the tone. The HT-5R only has one pre-amp tube. This tube won out. I love this tube. Very nice smooth breakup and it keeps the clarity per notes ringing. Really good smooth 'Plexi' sounding tube in the Blackstar. Very happy.
The JJ ECC803S (long plate. this is the wrong picture) is THE best new manufactured preamp tube available. They perform every bit as well as my late production Sylvania and GE tubes, and who could really ask for more than that. The attack, the detail and resolution which are so obviously absent from most mushy sounding new preamps are all here in the JJ. Overall tone and gain are better than with the more common ECC83 short plate tube and the overall soundstage genuinely compares very well to the old American tubes. This is the the standard that other manufacturers should be following.
Fantastic, fast service; great bargain! Amplified Parts will be my starting point for any tube purchase/advice.
