The JJ Electronic E83CC is a high quality dual triode that rivals the NOS version of this tube. The E83CC was originally designed as an audio specific dual triode with very low noise and microphonics. The JJ E83CC stays true to the original design with the signature thick frame grid and boxed plate. The rigid frame allows for tighter tolerances and closer construction which results in lower noise and increased stability. The JJ Electronic E83CC is a great choice for high fidelity amplifiers as well as guitar amps and studio equipment. The E83CC has the same pinout and amplification factor as a standard 12AX7 and can be used in any 12AX7 or ECC83 position.
Guitarist Description: This frame grid tube has an incredibly rich yet balanced tone. The E83CC works well for clean sounds but also breaks up with a satisfying warmth and plenty of articulation.
Product Reviews
The JJ E83CC sounded so awesome in my Black Ice Audio 3502S Fusion Integrated Amp, that I could not resist purchasing another JJ E83CC for my Vincent Audio SV-500 Hybrid Integrated Amp. Now the SV-500 already came with a pretty good tube in the V1 position, the JJ ECC83S. I tried to improve on the JJ ECC83S to no avail. I rolled all sorts to NOS tubes but most just fell flat. Then someone suggested trying the JJ E83CC. Being already familiar with how great a tube it is, I gave it a roll. As expected, the JJ E83CC is a spectacular performer in the SV-500 as well. Amazing clarity across the entire sound spectrum, exceptional 3-dimension sound stage, and a good solid thump in the bass department. I'm finally done rolling tubes in my SV-500.
Great tubes ! I put them in my Randall rd45 Diablo!
Which is a dark amp in the second channel for overdrive ! It definitely brightens up this amp ! In the mids
Yeah better than the ecc83s And the gold version
This is a great tube! As some others have already stated.....it's brighter and more aggressive than JJ's standard ECC83S is. I consider it a tuning option though....if you want BRIGHT get this tube....if you want middle of the road get the ECC83S, if you want less bright get the ECC83S gold pin. I have used JJ preamp tubes for many years in many different amps. I think they are great tubes despite what you might read on some online forums. Out of 20+ preamp tubes I have bought I have had only 2 that have failed quickly. One was an ECC83S and one was a EF806. Despite this I still use 90% JJ tubes in my personal amps and amps I build. You need to realize...almost all the other tubes on the market are really just Russian tubes that are branded as different brands. They are really nothing like the tubes they say they are on the label. JJ tubes are made at a totally different factory in Slovakia. Ignore the comments on the forums....try them for yourself and see! They really are great tubes, follow my guide for the tone you seek.....GOLD PIN ECC83S=mellow tone, ECC83S neutral tone, E83CC= bright tone.
Installed the JJ E83CC in my Black Ice Audio 3502S Tube Stereo Amplifier and the difference was immediate. The sound stage widened, the 3D effect was much more prominent, and the overall sound quality improved significantly. In fact, my wife, who tolerates my audiophile habit, remarked that the music sounds incredible. I have to agree with her.
I took a chance with this tube. I bought it for V1 put it in and took it out the next day. I like a smooth, detailed tone and thought this was too bright and brassy. I didn’t give it much of a chance so don’t take my opinion too seriously.
The E83CC from JJ is a beast of sound : it exhibits clear and balanced tone with a kind of brotherhood with 6L6 tubes in every position. The sound is "full range", the highs are clear and abundant, the harmonics are really singing while the midrange still keeps its punch. The bass response is powerful and remains clear and tight. Such a good tube : the only one that I find extraordinary good to wake both a dark sounding amp or a thin sounding one. For example I put it in V1 spot in a rectoverb : perfect dynamics, gain, balance between clarity and beefiness !! I also put it in V3 in a Tiamp (MK1) to rise the power of 1A and 1B channels and again in V6 to balance the power and the distortion in 3A(V6 punch) relatively next to 3B(very loud). Really a good singing tube with a lot of gain but always controlled and mastered.
In the right spots, these tubes are great-great-great solutions to the issues I wanted to solve!!
