I found this to be a comprehensive reference for the design of tube preamps, although in my opinion the book is best suited to someone with a solid background in electric circuits, if not a degree in electronics. While I fit neither of those descriptions, I do have an engineering background and was able to follow enough of it to appreciate just how detailed the book is. If you want to build a tube amp, this is a great reference to round out "Inside Tube Amps" Dan Torres, and "Design and Construction of Tube Guitar Amplifiers" by and Robert Megantz'.
