Electro-Harmonix has released a low noise, low microphonic version of the 12AX7 that meets all specifications required for the tube to be designated 7025. The original 7025 tube was a 12AX7 that was tested and selected for the lowest noise and microphonics for use in the critical first preamp stages of amplifiers where noise and microphonics could be an issue. In order to ensure that the 7025 specification is consistently met, Electro-Harmonix has redesigned the structure of the 12AX7 and has implemented construction techniques to ensure the absolute lowest noise and microphonics possible. In all samples tested, noise and microphonics could not be detected.

"The Electro-Harmonix 7025EH has a mid-range that gives clarity and definition to the sound and a smooth top end for warmth and balance. With these characteristics, along with the exceptionally low noise and low microphonics, the Electro-Harmonix 7025EH will work equally well in vintage and modern high-gain guitar amplifiers, as well as sensitive phono preamps." -EHX

I agree with these being quiet, balanced, plenty of gain. I've got this EH 7025 and another NOS 7025 in my 5150 Iconic head. It quickly kicked out the TAD Redbase 7025 I had in it. The balanced sound it gives is why. Clear sounding throughout no matter how much amp gain I use. Nice bark when I dig in. Sounds good in my Marshallz in V1 too. I just ordered another EH 7025. I may end up with a few. I have lots of amps.

7025EH is a true 7025 valve/tube. It is low noise, it is not microphonic, it is very high gain and it sounds magnificent.

Perhaps the best sounding modern option.

Great tube! Quiet, balanced, smooth breakup, and retains the chime when pushed. Using it in V1 of my Vox AC15C1TB. Want to try one in a Fender amp next.

Bought the EH 7025 preamp tubes to go with the EH 12AT7 drivers and EH 6CA7 power tubes in my amp. The EH 7025s brought everything together and honestly it sounds magical. This is the best combination of tubes I have found in tube rolling with my Jolida 3502S integrated amp. Amazing detail, balanced sound across the spectrum, huge sound stage and awesome 3D. Excellent tube combo.
