Vacuum Tube - 6V6GT-STR, Tube Amp Doctor

Finally in production after 3 years of intensive research.

This all new TAD 6V6GT-STR combines the exceptionally sweet characteristics of the NOS 6V6GT by RCA or of the GE 6V6GTY. It is a heavy duty 6V6GT tube, which can handle a higher plate current.

This TAD 6V6GT-STR caters for a detailed and powerful tone and an abundance of sustain; characteristics you would only expect from the finest NOS 6V6GTs from the 50s and 60s. Even when pushed into saturation there are no harsh upper mids, which is frequently the case with other 6V6s. Sweet full-bodied tone with silky highs.

TAD 6V6GT-STR is recommended for all 6V6 applications where a powerful but sweet tone is desired; It works great in amps like the Fender -Tweed- Champs, Deluxe Reverb Amps, Vibro-Champ, Fender Champion 600 or the Univalve. This is also the perfect choice as a reverb driver for the Vibrokings and Dual Professionals.

No, these tubes are produced in China to TAD's specs and then thoroughly tested to weed out any unacceptable tubes.

You may need to bias your amp after replacing your power tubes as these tubes come in a wide variety of PC and TC ratings. If you know what PC and TC you need we can try and match these values to our current stock.

Apex matching definitely reduces the noise floor of the pair. Highly recommended.

I bought these tubes to replace an old pair of Sylvania 6V6 tubes in a Gibson GA40 amp. I really liked the balanced tone quality but the plastic tube base diameter is larger than the original 6V6 spec so the tubes wouldn't slip inside the spring retainer rings that hold the hanging tubes in place..

Fortunately, I was able to use them in an old Guild amp that has no spring retainers. They have less low end than the original RCA tubes that came with the amp but this is no bad thing as it is easily compensated by the amp's bass tone control.

One other good thing. The excellent customer service at Amplified Parts would have given me a full refund if I hadn't found an alternative use.
