So I have a couple of Presonus Studio Channel Mic Preamps and A DBX 376 and a one of those Eurotech dual ch. mic pres. I've heard that the Presonus Tube Ch.s can benefit from replacing the tubes. Are these good for my application?
Asked by Anonymous on August 18th, 2016.
Please see our article on 12AX7's. https://www.amplifiedparts.com/tech_corner/12ax7_comparison_of_current_made_tubes It will rate tubes by gain and noise.

Do these come in matched pairs?
Asked by Anonymous on October 13th, 2016.
Some people will match a preamp tube and this is what is typically referred to a "balanced." We do not offer this service. Most of the time is is unnecessary.

I have a VOX VT20X how will it sound with a Tung Sol 12AX7?
Asked by Anonymous on March 9th, 2017.
The Tung Sol is a very warm and creamy 12AX7 with nice detail. We would suspect that you would get these attributes with the Vox.

What is the difference in gain and tone with the ecc83 and ecc803s (gold pin variation of this) and why isn't the gold pin listed as an ecc803s when it is on the box/label?
Asked by Anonymous on May 2nd, 2017.
Both of these Tung Sol 12AX7's are ECC803S. They are very close but the gold pin will have slightly less gain in the mids. The ECC83 is a mid gain tube and will have less gain than a 12AX7 (ECC803S). Looking for breakup at low volume for practice with 1969 Bassman AB165. Would high gain preamp tubes help get there?
Asked by Anonymous on October 21st, 2018.
Absolutely. High gain preamp tubes combined with low numbered power tubes should provide your amp with earlier access to breakup.

Hi everybody, my thought and question is as follows:
Is the Tung Sol 12ax7 gold pin nearly same as the standard Tung Sol 12ax7??
Or is there a small difference in gain or in EQ power??
Asked by Anonymous on October 24th, 2018.
They are very close but the gold pin will have slightly less gain in the mids. The ECC83 is a mid gain tube and will have less gain than a 12AX7 (ECC803S). For a comparison of all the 12AX7's we carry, click on the tech corner link at the top of this page.

Honestly the best sounding preamp tube to my ears. You can't go wrong getting at least one and putting it in the first slot. You will really hear the difference.
Tubes run great in my Fender '65 Twin Reverb reissue. Customer service was very kind and professional.
The tung sol 12ax7 gold pin is an excellent 12ax7/803 preamp tube, low microphonics, nice midd gain, I have use the standard and gold pin.. I find the gold pin higher quality tube.. Use in my Bogner 101b and Fuchs custom Wildcard 100 D style amp in V1 for all channel. Highly recommend this tube.
This tube changed the sound of my amp !
That’s a positive change. I’ve searched for that elusive sound for 60 years, but when my friend Carl recommend your tubes, I’m so glad that my mind was open to guidance, because he was absolutely on the money. Thanks for a great product. Ray White
I replaced an ageing NOS in my Victoria deluxe. Very nice, sound - fluid and perfect for this amp.
I compared several 12AX7 tubes. The Tung Sol is pretty good. It's a little hotter and brighter than the Mullard CV4004 which was my favorite.
Tubes arrived quickly and at a good price. The tubes themselves are quiet and give my amp a very smooth sound and attack. I would purchase them again. They sound as good as some more expensive vintage tubes I've used.
Great tubes ,no microphonics and really nice sound .i am very pleased with them .i am running them in fender 65 reissue twin reverb.
Bought 3 to replace microphonic tubes in my Monoprice 15W amp. Sound great and absolutely no hint of microphonics.
I put this in V1 of my Blackstar HT Soloist 60. WOW noticed the 3-D sound they were talking about. Lot more headroom and bottom end on the clean channel, the OD had crunch to sweeping gain with a more pronounced EQ and presence response.Going to get a few more for my other amps. The Tung-sol sounded totally different in V1 then the OEM tubes.
