Transistor - NTE123, Silicon, TO-5 case, NPN
NTE123 NPN silicon transistors. The NTE123 is a popular NPN for fuzz pedals and other effects. This transistor is in a TO-5 package. The NTE123 was used in the Texas Square Face made by Cesar Diaz, the famous amp tech who worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan and others. Early in his career, SRV had a broken Fuzz Face pedal and took it to Cesar Diaz to have him fix it. Diaz fixed and modified the pedal and this became the foundation of his famous version which he named the Texas Square Face. The Diaz pedals often came socketed and included a set of NTE123 along with the standard pair of P-QNTE103 to experiment with the different sounds of the transistors.

This transistor is in a TO-5 package with long leads commonly found on germanium transistors. This transistor is in a metal SO-2 package with long leads commonly found on germanium transistors. This package with the gold leads visually matches the 2G308, 2G309, and 2G381 transistors found in Zonk and Tonebender MKI fuzz pedals.
$4.95 Transistor - BC148C, Silicon, Lockfit case, NPN BC148C NPN transistor in a rare Mullard Lockfit package. The BC148C is the equivalent of a BC108C but in the Lockfit package rather than a TO-18. The BC148C was used in a variety of audio and radio equipment and works well for fuzz and other effects.$1.95
Op-Amp - LM308, Motorola, Single, 8-Pin CDIP
NOS LM308 from Motorola in an 8-pin ceramic DIP package. The LM308 operational amplifiers provide high input impedance, low input offsets and temperature drifts, and low noise. These characteristics are made possible by use of a special Super Beta processing technology. This series of amplifiers is particularly useful for applications where high-accuracy and low-drift performance are essential. In addition high-speed performance may be improved by employing feed-forward compensation techniques to maximize slew rate without compromising other performance criteria.

$0.79 Audio Power Amplifier - LM386N-1 / 4, Low Voltage LM386 Low Voltage Audio Power Amplifier The LM386 is a mono low voltage amplifier that can be used in a variety of applications. It can drive loads from 4 Ω to 32 Ω. The gain is internally set to 20 but it can be modified from 20 to 200 by placing a resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8. As this is an Op Amp it can be used in different configurations to fit in several applications. The internal gain setting resistor allows the LM386 to be used in a very low part count system. In addition a series resistor can be placed between pins 1 and 5 to modify the gain and frequency response for specific applications. These are found in many small audio amplifiers and even tiny pedal sized guitar amplifiers! There are tons of possibilities for this little Op Amp.$1.70
Op-Amp - OP07, Single, Precision, Low Offset, 8-Pin DIP
OP07 precision op amp in an 8-pin DIP package.These devices offer low offset and long-term stability by means of a low-noise, chopperless, bipolar-input-transistor amplifier circuit. For most applications, external components are not required for offset nulling and frequency compensation. The true differential input, with a wide input-voltage range and outstanding common-mode rejection, provides maximum flexibility and performance in high-noise environments and in noninverting applications. Low bias currents and extremely high input impedance are maintained over the entire temperature range.
$1.59 Op-Amp - OP275, Dual, Bipolar/JFET, Audio, 8-Pin DIP OP275 dual audio op amp in an 8-pin DIP package. The OP275 is the first amplifier to feature the Butler Amplifier front end. This new front end design combines both bipolar and JFET transistors to attain amplifiers with the accuracy and low noise performance of bipolar transistors, and the speed and sound quality of JFETs. Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise equals that of previous audio amplifiers, but at much lower supply currents. A very low l/f corner of below 6 Hz maintains a flat noise density response. Whether noise is measured at either 30 Hz or 1 kHz, it is only 6 nVHz. The JFET portion of the input stage gives the OP275 its high slew rates to keep distortion low, even when large output swings are required, and the 22 V/µs slew rate of the OP275 is the fastest of any standard audio amplifier.$4.25
