Does it matter if it is installed silver dot face up or face down? Or it doesn’t make a difference?
Asked by Anonymous on August 15th, 2018.
This optocoupler can be safely installed with the silver dot face up or face down. The dot represents the non-polarized side, so pay close attention when installing this part. Installing with the silver dot in the wrong direction can result in damage to your amp.

Hi, I recently purchased this part. Checking the documentation I see that the LDR is on the end without the dot. The resistance on that side measures open (infinite), which does not seem right. In fact both ends measure open. Is this what you would expect?
Thanks,
Martin Manning

Hey Martin. The side with the dot is a neon bulb so it won't read with a multimeter. The other side is the photosensitive resistor which measures very high resistance with no light present. Once the bulb is lit, the resistance will drop.

Hi. This optocoupler works in the Fender Vibro-King? I think the Vibro-King optocoupler has two photoresistors wired in parallel for reduced resistance. Do you have some optocoupler for Fender Vibro-King?
Asked by emanoelraiff85 on August 11th, 2022.
This is just the standard optocoupler found in most Fender amps. We aren't familiar enough with the Vibro-King's vibrato circuit to say whether or not this is the correct optocoupler for it.
Product Reviews
I replaced the faulty bug in my 65 Deluxe Reverb AB763 with this one. The old bug was blinking erratically, and producing a very weak tremolo. This LDR fixed the problem, and was easy to install.
Great Replacement for my 70s Silverface Deluxe Reverb. Works Great!
