Speakers. The last opportunity to modify your tone. Unlike hi-fi speakers which attempt to create sounds that are true to the musical source fed them, guitar speakers impart their own tone. Your amp/cabinet pretty much determines three things about what speaker to select; speaker size, impedance and power rating. (See our tech corner article on Speaker Impedance, Power Handling and Wiring). But the tone is up to you! Speaker replacement is probably the easiest mod you can perform.

Speaker - Jensen® Vintage Ceramic, 12", C12K, 100W
A real workhorse, heavy on the mids with a solid, straightforward tone. When presented with overdrive distortion it powers through with lows that are bold and heavy.
Speaker - Jensen® Vintage 12", Alnico P12Q, 40 watts
The P12Q has a very warm, mid-focused bite with clear, bright highs. When presented with overdrive distortion the P12Q remains well-balanced.
Speaker - Jensen® Vintage Ceramic, 12", C12Q, 35W
Well rounded, straightforward tone with a lot of mid bite and bright highs.

Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12M-65 Creamback, 65 watts
The G12M Greenback is perhaps the definitive vintage Celestion ceramic magnet guitar speaker. Developed in the mid-sixties, it was quickly adopted by players like Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and Page, who typified the louder and more aggressive blues rock playing styles that came to characterize that era.The G12M-65 Creamback produces the familiar woody G12M tone, but handles greater power making it ideally suited for today's amps, when a vintage tone is desired.

Straightforward, bright tone. Presents great chime when driven at moderate volumes, perfect for low wattage practice amps.
Speaker - Jensen® Vintage Ceramic, 12", C12R, 25W
Warm low and mid response with smooth/bright highs. When presented with overdrive distortion, it presents smooth crunch with low-end focus.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12M "Greenback", 25W
Celestion Classic Series guitar speaker. The G12M Greenback has evolved over the decades but still retains its essential, sought-after tone. This version exhibits all the classic G12M characteristics but is voiced with additional broad mid-range attack and restrained top-end to give a forward, punchy attitude to chords and a searing lead tone without fizz.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", Rocket 50, 50W, 8Ω
Celestion Original Series guitar speaker. Look inside the back of a standard 4x12 and you may well find a quartet of Rocket 50s. This speaker performs well with any playing style, and won't break the bank - an affordable entry level speaker for those seeking the Celestion sound. 8 Ohms.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", Vintage 30, 60W
Celestion Classic Series guitar speaker. The Vintage 30 features enormously detailed and complex overtones, a warm low-end, a famously rich vocal mid-range and a beautifully detailed top-end. Used singly to reveal the complexities in hand-wired boutique amps, or in quartets for a wonderfully intricate vintage 30 crunch, the Vintage 30 sound has been captured on thousands of recordings from a diverse range of notable players. Presented with overdrive distortion, it displays a crisp crunch.

The C12N has a smooth, straightforward and full-bodied tone with high frequency chime.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12-65 Heritage, 65W
With its fast attack and tightly controlled low-end, the G12-65 became a firm favourite in the '80s with hard rock players. The precisely tuned midrange and crisp defined top-end contribute to an aggressive crunch sound that punches through the mix while the mid-range warmth and detail give weight and depth to single notes.

The Seventy 80 is an adaptation of the Classic Lead and offers a pleasing lift in the upper part of the spectrum. Solid bass and plenty of midrange will also be welcomed.

Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12H-75 Creamback, 75 watts
Back in the late 60s, the G12H was created by fixing an 'H' type (heavy) magnet to the body of a G12M guitar speaker. Result: a speaker with more power and a different tonal balance: firmer bass and a more pronounced top end. So we added an 'H' magnet to the G12M-65 Creamback, create a speaker that delivers the sonic signature of a G12H combined with Creamback levels of power handling. The result is the G12H-75 Creamback. It delivers 75-watts of power handling with ease and has unmistakeable G12H tone, with a tighter low end than the G12M-65 Creamback and a punchier, more dynamic high end.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12 Alnico Blue, 15W
Celestion Alnico guitar speaker. This classic guitar speaker actually started life as a radio speaker that was modified specifically for use in electric guitar amplifiers.Warm lows, relaxed mids and sparkling highs. When distorted it is smooth and articulated.
Speaker - Celestion, 12", G12H, 30W
Used singly it exhibits a pleasing, strong low-end, but it's in a 4x12 configuration that it generates the great chugging "thump" that the guitar heroes of the day were renowned for. With a densely complex and buttery mid-range and a finely detailed top-end, the G12H is excellent for cranking out huge, dark power chords, with smooth and rich bridge pickup tones and flutey neck pickup tones. With fatter lows and brighter highs, it is slightly more aggressive than its Heritage cousin.

Warm, well balanced tone with low end focus. It responds to overdrive distortion with a rich smooth crunch and bright lead-voice fuzz.
Speaker - Peavey, 12", Black Widow 1201-8 BW, 700W
The 1201 is an 8 ohm, 12" Black Widow/Super Structure speaker intended primarily for sound reinforcement.
