Product Reviews
Great kit. The pedal sounds really good and construction was pretty simple. The instructions are excellent. The only thing that was a little unclear to me was the orientation of the transistor, but Googling a datasheet for that cleared up that question.
Good for beginners.
Missing parts
I'm not sure of how good it is or if it works. I have kids, I scheduled the afternoon to work on this project after the first two components soldered, going for the 3rd one and its missing. Now I have to go look somewhere in Montreal where to find the missing capacitor. I'm sure it won't cost much but the afternoon its lost.
Make sure you review the list of components are all there before you make your plans.
Works well and performs perfectly as a clean boost. A great platform to modify. I left the boost on all the time and used the switch to turn on an LED and bypass a master volume I added. This way I can set a lead boost level and use the footswitch and volume to set a lower rhythm level and not require access to the next volume control down the line (useful with my acoustic guitar when the mixer is not nearby).
I just finished putting this together and had a lot of fun doing so. It sounds great too! I was lucky and got it done right the first time. Great little peddle!
built this in an afternoon. sounded great. so i added a muff pi tone style circuit with tone knob. a volume sag knob. a feedback loop switch for ultra sustain with a frequency knob for the circuit. since mine has a little dirty to it due to the muff circuit tone, the sustain/feedback circuit really brings this thing to life. exceelent sound and very quiet design. with no mods this pedal kit is worth at least twice what they are charging. also added a bypass switch to bypass my muff tone circuit. thhis pedal is a nice place to start pedal modding too.
Great little pedal, I totally enjoyed building it. Here's a quick blog post on it with a sound clip.

Fun kit, useful pedal. I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. The finished product works really well. I like that I can tweak the chickenhead knob with my foot for adjustments on the fly.
I use mine mostly to bump up my volume for solos, and so the only complaint I have about it is the lack of an led indicator to tell me whether it's on or off. I'd be willing to pay a little more for that addition.
This is the most awesome thing I have ever built. It sounds great and I have a new hobby. I have already ordered the thunderdrive deluxe and I can't wait for it to arrive. I recomend this pedal to anyone interested in building one.
This is the most awesome thing I have ever made. Man, just the feeling of a job well done once I plugged it in and it actually worked. I have found a new hobby. Directions were easy, I've never sodered anything before this. I can't wait for the next one to arrive.
If you're a pedal lover like me, who's always wanted to try their hand at building one, but have zero experience, then this is the pedal for you. Get yourself a good soldering iron and a a few tools and go for it! It's easy (take your time), it's fun, and guess what, it sounds awesome! Just crank it up and wail! It really kicks a good tube amp into submission!
