This is similar to the Rangemaster in function, but isn't germanium like the Rangemaster.

Hi:
I'm finding a lot of noise when I turn the pedal on, maybe how I wired it, any ideas how I can make it quieter?
Thanks

Try using it with a battery. If it is still noisy, then you may need to check your connections. If the noise goes away when using the battery, you may need a quieter power supply.
Product Reviews
Tons of treble boost, perhaps a bit too much past the middle point. Also a bit sad that the treble & the volume as well are going down as we turn down the effect. I would have prefered much more control on just the treble. The assembly is pretty straight foward but require a bit of experience in soldering
The Penetrator was an easy build, but most importantly, sounds great! With the volume at 12:00 it's at unity volume with my AC30 but the tone has increased sparkle and a touch of drive. The sweet spot for rhythm tones is between 1:00 and 3:00. Even with my "chimey" amp the pedal never gets shrill or too bright. Dime it for lead tones; sustain for days and there even seems to be a slight fattening up of the tone when the volume is all the way up.
The pedal whistles when powered with my "One Spot" daisy chain 9v power supply. The whistle goes totally away when powered by a 9v battery. This is any issue with the power supply, not the pedal. The Penetrator actually cleans up very well with the guitars volume control which I didn't expect.
The kit arrived quickly and everything you need to have a finished, pro looking pedal is included. I finished the build in one morning. The legs of the transistor have to be spread pretty wide when installing it onto the terminal strip so make sure you support the legs at the base of the transistor to prevent damaging them.
The written instructions are very clear and any questions are answered by checking the drawings that are also included. A schematic is included but you DO NOT have to know how to read a schematic to complete the build of this pedal.
I'm looking forward to my next pedal build.

Just built the penetrator, nice kit not too hard. Sometimes a little tight for my larger fingers, but when all done sounds fantastic. Great in front of my distortion peddle. No noise except for the guitar noise I want to hear. Gonna try some more kits. Very recommended. Thanks amplified parts.
This is a great pedal. Easy to put together. Has great range. A lot of different sounds.
This was an easy two hour project. Great instructions made it fool proof. I have it on the board in front of the dirt boxes, it really kicks up the treble to cut through the mix for solos.
