Capacitor - SoZo, 500V, NexGen Yellow Mustard Vintage
SoZo's Yellow Mustard line of polyester film tube amp capacitors have been thoroughly tested by LA’s best tube amp builders. They are handmade to exact vintage specs, and beat everything available, even in high gain situations.
After years of painstaking research and development, in 2003 SoZo Amplification began manufacturing the SoZo Mustard Cap™ capacitors, which quickly caught on among discriminating musicians and amp designers. Now, hundreds of thousands of capacitors later, SoZo has engineered capacitor product lines optimized for different products, including amps by Marshall™, Fender®, Vox®, HiWatt, and others, as well as professional sound gear from Neve, API, Neumann, Universal Audio, Urei, and virtually any quality gear from the 1950s on.
These caps are successful recreations of the originals and are superbly built and excellent-sounding caps. When one considers the audio signal passes through as many as ten capacitors before exiting the amplifier, you can see how these components play an extremely large role in the tone of the amplifier.

Product Reviews
I don't want to pan these caps because they are so highly regarded, but in a total rework of a Magnavox 9300 amp I used a set of .047 for coupling caps and I was getting some sibilance/ breakup even at normal volume. Might be the dynamics of the circuit. Put in good old orange drops and amp sounds great. I will hang onto them and try in another project. Always good to have a collection of coupling caps!
Accurate capacitance value.
Black band indicates foil end in all 8 tested.
The 2021 dated Sozo's look a bit different (size and label) than the original Nexgen caps. Have used the new caps in a few recent builds. No complaint about the way they sound. I haven't built any amps with identical circuits to compare new vs old so who knows.
They have copper leads and assume film/foil construction.
I've finally run out of the original Sozo caps and these are a little different in diameter and length but seem to be just as good as the old ones. Good lead length for wide turret applications too. If you are building a Marshall style amp or repairing/re-capping, these are very consistent and accurate.
These are the best capacitors for amp builds aside from NOS !
