I have an Aria Acoustic /electric guitar, with a passive piezo under saddle, 1 volume & 1 tone knob, and a 147K cap on the tone knob.
Q #1) Is the 147k value the same as .047uf cap?
Q #2) with the passive piezo being VERY bright, what cap value / mod would you recommend to "tame" the piezo. Using a Bags DI in the signal chain helps, and makes the tone pot very usable.
Asked by Anonymous on November 9th, 2017.
Without looking at the cap we are not 100% sure what you have. A 474K would designate a .47uf orange drop cap and a 473K would be a .047uf. To answer your second question, the higher the cap value the more high end it will roll off. For example, a .1uf cap will roll off the most highs while a .001uf will roll of the least highs. You can send us an email with a picture of your cap at: info@amplifiedparts.com so we can try to identify your current cap.

I've seen a .033 uF cap in the 225 and 715P series for guitar tone caps? Can the corresponding 715P series .033 cap be used on a guitar tone pot? The 715P series does not appear to be much larger and dimensions suggest it would fit in a guitar cavity. Please advise. I want to try a .033 cap for tone pots. Thanks
Asked by Anonymous on December 26th, 2018.
Both the 225P and the 715P can be used for guitar tone potentiometers. We simply suggest the 100V caps because when working in a confined area, smaller parts are easier to work with. Both will fit, but the 715Ps will be more cramped for space.
Product Reviews
I replaced a .022uf Neck pickup tone control capacitor on a Les Paul with this .001 orange drop cap. The cap made the PU less "muddy" sounding.
These capacitors with just great for my treble bleed guitar components.
I love these orange drop caps...I don't use anything else in my builds/upgrades!
