Capacitor - Mod® Electronics, Aluminum Electrolytic, 105°C, Axial Lead
Mod® Electronics electrolytic capacitors provide builders with quality capacitors that offer long-lasting performance at the highest degree. These capacitors are designed with tube amplifiers in mind; each capacitor is rated at 105°C. This temperature rating provides a highly-stable capacitance in any device, be it vacuum tube or solid state. The Mod® electrolytic capacitor line features capacitance values that are common in many vintage amplifiers but are not readily available today. Builders and techs can confidently use these capacitors to match the original specifications of their equipment.

World class performance at a reasonable price. You can spend more but you cannot buy a better capacitor.
I purchased a set of these to re-cap a 1969 Fender Super Bassman. I chose these because I wanted to see how good the quality was considering the low price. I also found the 105C temperature rating attractive, since these are intended to be in the hot environment of a tube amp - higher temp rating should mean longer life, even if they never get subjected to the full rated temp. My impression is that the quality is very good, on par with most electrolytics I've encountered, and better than some. They were a good fit for the existing circuit board as well. It will take many years of use to determine longevity, but I feel confident that they should last a good while. I haven't noticed any hum or other problems that would be caused by them being deficient or defective in any way. They're a good all-around choice for when you don't want to pay extra for a fancy name. They will be my default for re-capping old amps from now.
I was recently given a Gibson Scout GA 17 RVT amplifier that had been in a barn for the last 30-40 years. I fired it up and it had a seriously loud buzz/hum at zero volume with nothing plugged in. I immediately did the standard upgrades... removed the suicide cap and installed a 3-prong grounded power cord. Next I replaced the two large electrolytic filter caps and that did the trick. The amp sounds great! The filter caps were dual capacitors (20+20 uf @ 350 volts). Hard to find! That said, AmplifiedParts had the correct values at 500 volts. The Sprague versions were out of stock so I got the MOD parts. They arrived one day earlier than predicted (which I loved) and they have been working perfectly after 20 (give or take) hours of run time. I'm really happy with Amplified Parts quick response to questions and super fast delivery. Oddly enough the axial leads were perfectly straight when I opened the package, so that's an extra plus. The rest of the amp remains original including tubes, transformers and speaker. As a side note, I've got to say that I was surprised by the excellent build quality and great tone of this vintage Gibson amp. I've always been a Fender amp guy... Looking forward to my next project and partnering with AmplifiedParts for whatever my 1969 Fender Princeton needs.
