This capacitor's almost cubical shape makes more efficient use of space and delivers a remarkable amount of capacitance for its volume.

Any knob designed for a 1/4" solid shaft that uses a set screw should work.

This capacitor is an "air" capacitor, meaning the dielectric is air instead of paper, mica or plastic (mylar, polypropylene, etc.). There are two sets of semi-circular plates. One set is fixed and the other is attached to a shaft allowing it to be rotated. As the shaft is rotated, the capacitance is changed.

Hello, the air gap is 0.010 inches wide from plate to plate.

If the metal detector calls for this capacitor, yes. These are rated at 350V, so they should be able to handle 5V with ease.
