The positive lug will be the lug with writing on the wire. The negative will be the unmarked black wire.
On the cable I received, the unmarked black wire was positive
1 answers Hello. Can I use this cable to connect a combo amp's internal speaker to a head (matched impedance) via the speaker out on the head directly to the combo amp's speaker tab connection (it has 2 on each + and -, one lug on each being used by the combo) with the combo powered off?

If you have a combo amp and want to use this with a head, then you would connect/solder the spade lugs to the speaker in the combo amp and then connect the 1/4" plug into the back of the head.
