Vacuum Tube - 6V6GT, Tung-Sol Reissue
Totally Tweed! The preferred OEM tube of '50s-era Fender Tweed Champ and Deluxe amplifiers The Tung-Sol 6V6 has a geometry designed to safely handle the higher voltages used in guitar amps " plus heavier plate and grid materials. The result.. better mids and bottom while keeping the smooth top of the classic 6V6's. The Tung-Sol 6V6 breaks up evenly from low E to high up the neck. Blues players will LOVE these tubes for the way they sing!

Product Reviews
I was running a pair of vintage RCAs in my Fender Custom Deluxe and wasn't happy with the tone. These matched Tung-Sols gave me seriously good tone. That said, what one person likes isn't necessarily what another likes. I play hollow body jazz guitars with humbuckers and strung with heavy flat-wounds. I roll off almost nothing on the instrument's tone pots, with 90% of volume. The signal makes a detour through a Neunaber Immerse pedal's plate reverb algorithm then goes to the #2 input of the Custom channel with volume and tone pots at 4. A heavy magnet Celestion Type V does the talking (at least until the Alnico Weber gets here.) So... the jazz tone is great. It improved greatly when I put these Tung-Sols to work, biased close to 20ma or a bit under. The sustain is terrific, the replication of acoustic nuance is inspiring. Natural compression makes me want to play more. And I swear, they don't feed back as easily. I haven't played a Les Paul, Strat or Tele through them yet, but using both humbuckers and roll off the bass produces some great clean tone with depth. Nice pair of valves - if ya know what I mean....
These are surprisingly good tubes. I was concerned about purchasing tubes considering the shortage that occurred recently combined with the quality of tubes during this period
being possibly suspect. But these are excellent. They cleared up some noise issues I was having with a Dr. Z and are quite dynamic and significantly fattened up the tone. I ordered
a matched pair, tried them out and subsequently ordered a matched quad. 100% pleased.
For starters, I just play at home, I play a Gibson L.P., Fender USA Strat and an Eastman T486, (335 clone) blues & classic rock is "my thing." My one amp is a Vintage Sound, Vintage 15 hand wired "Princeton clone" using a 5Y3 J.J. rectifier. I've tried TAD's, J.J.'s and Tungsol's. I've now been using Tungsol 6V6's for 10 years with no desire to try anything else. Hands down I found that the Tungsol's give me the "sound and the feel" that I've been looking for. Years ago, when they first came out there was a "quality problem" with them, hit or miss, some of them didn't last too long. But that problem has been solved for quite a while now and I easily get 2+ years out of a pair of them with no problems at all. (4-6 hrs. a week @ medium-to-medium low volume) To me they're "the perfect match" power tubes for my amp.
6V6 Tung Sol have a beautiful sound
Tubes fail sometimes, I know. However, I must admit I was disappointed by an Apex matched pair of these in a Fender 6G3 based Hot Fudge Deluxe combo. Visually the tubes appear to be of good quality construction and biased up in range but only lasted about 2 months before red plating. David Allen recommends and includes Tung Sols for his 6V6 amps but I'm going back to JJ 6V6S which are more robust and far more reliable in my experience.
Great matched tubes! Tested good and close on my Amplitrex AT1000.
Excellent performance for a 6V6GT tube. The Apex matched pair gave my old 1960 Gibson GT40 Les Paul amp much more headroom and clarity with a very low noise floor. Use of a high output phase inverter/driver tube such as a NOS JAN Philips 12AX7WA or Telefunken ECC83 adds to clarity and smooth highs.
