Solid State Rectifier - Yellow Jacket® YJR, For 5AR4, 5U4, 5Y3
The YJR is a direct plug-in replacement adapter for use in most amplifiers that use 5AR4/GZ34, 5U4, 5Y3 or similar full-wave rectifier tubes. The YJR converts your amp's vacuum tube rectifier to a solid state rectifier, reducing tube sag for a tighter sound and feel. The tube rectifier can easily be swapped back in when sag is desired. This Yellow Jacket® is a solid state device and as such does not require vacuum tubes.
- Converts most audio amplifiers which use a vacuum tube rectifier 5AR4/GZ34, 5U4 or 5Y3 to a solid state device.
- Safe for all common amplifiers and transformers.
All Yellow Jacket® converters have a one year warranty against manufacturer defects.

Product Reviews
A very nice alternative to the stock rectifier tube in my silver face Princeton Reverb.
The Yellow Jacket isn't necessarily better in *all* situations -- at lower gain it doesn't really improve my tone or the response of my amp. Where it shines, though.. is when I crank up the amp -- it smooths the rough edges of a hard pick attack and transitions into a nice sustain. At higher amp gain, the Yellowjacket makes my Princeton sound a bit more refined as well as easier to record.
For gigging this is probably a no brainer and I wouldn't think twice about using it. Solid state adds an element reliability and I imagine the smoother high gain attack probably makes things a bit easier on the sound guy/girl.
Great for tightening up the bottom end of a Tweed.
Works great. Easy drop in replacement. Installed it in my 59 Bassman Ltd. Greatly improves the attack of the amp. I wasn’t big on the tube sag. Increases the amp output as well. I feel it made the amp more responsive and I installed this as part of a full re-tube and re-bias. Increases the plate voltage by about 10 volts. Seems like a well made unit.
I put this in my 50 year old Harmony 410A amplifier. I wasn't 100% sure how well it would work but it works PERFECTLY. Now my first amplifier from childhood that ended back in my hands after many many years is functioning perfectly.
