Product Reviews
4.5 stars
I've got these paired to my multi-watt Dual Rectifier/Mesa Traditional 4x12 setup and they are a surprisingly FANTASTIC speaker for hard rock and metal. The speakers present a big ol' low end, and a very tight, bone-dry, crunchy distortion character that plays with a firm, fast feel under the hands, much like the best parts of a T75, without the hiss. To add to this, the Mod 12-35s are insanely lightweight; they aren't even a full 3lbs each, so having them in a 4x12 is not at all back-breaking.
If I had one issue with these, it's that they should make these same speakers with a higher efficiency, in the ballpark of 96 or 97dB. If you are recording with them as-is, it would best serve you to have your cab in a very quiet, isolated environment because they pick up more environmental artifacts than higher efficiency speakers set to the same volume.
Overall, these speakers just have that special something that, out of all the premium guitar speakers I've owned, has yet to be beaten.
Sturdy, nice paint, but missing some high end. Worse than the speaker i was trying to replace, but you won't know that until you listen to it installed, and then you can't return it.
Great speaker! I built a 5E3 kit and this speaker complements it perfectly.
Recently hand built a vintage Fender 5E3 tweed deluxe amp using custom cabinet, turret board, chassis, tweed covered pine cabinet and NOS GE tubes. This speaker has a great low end and growls when you push it past 3 on the volume knob. Very efficient and warm sound. Breaks up nice (hint of British tones there). Only problem I'm having is solving the cabinet rattle problems associated with these tweed amps. Highly recommend. -Dave
