Report Review for product Reverb Tank - Mod® 8AB1A1B, Short Decay, 3-Spring

You are reporting the following product review:

This review pertains to the "MOD" Short Decay 3 Spring reverb tank, part# 8AB1A1B. This tank replaced the medium decay reverb tank in a PRS Recording amp. Its a little difficult to accurately describe, but I had felt that upon note attack, the medium decay tank was not "present" enough in the amps tone, but then sounded overwhelming and washed out upon the guitars note decay. I couldnt really hear the reverbs effect until I STOPPED playing, and then it was very washed out sounding, and the decay of the guitars tone was indistinct and lost in the reverbs effect. A note about the PRS Recording amps reverb circuit: It had a LOT of reverb effect with a very small turn of the reverb knob. If it was turned past 9 or 10 o'clock, the reverbs effect was completely overwhelming (and basically unusable), in spite of the issue I found mentioned above.

My initial thought was to go with a 'long decay' tank, thinking that the guitars notes would be more "enveloped" and present in the reverbs sound. I spoke at length with "Clark" at Amplified Parts, who's advice was completely accurate, and very much appreciated. He suggested (based on his own similar experience) to try a SHORT decay tank. I took that advice and ordered the MOD Short Decay tank. What a difference!! The guitars notes sit perfectly within the reverbs effect, the reverbs decay time is also perfect... neither long nor short. As an added benefit, the PRS amps reverb control is MUCH more "progressive", allowing me to use the majority of the reverbs controls sweep, instead of only a small portion as it was prior to changing to the short decay tank. And to my ears, the reverbs tone itself sounds superior to the "Belton/Accutronics" tank that was in the amp. Its a bit more of a "vintage" tone, similar to the reverb in a Fender amp. All in all, the MOD Short Decay tank transformed the reverb in my amp from something that was becoming an annoyance to something I REALLY love.
THANKS SO MUCH, CLARK!!!
