Report Review for product Vacuum Tube - 7025, China

Not really crazy about these tubes TBH and I'm on the fence about returning them within another week or so. IIRC I have 30 days. hate to do that but I'm not reallysatisifed to be honest.

I ordered them because I prefer the warmer sound of Chinese 12ax7s and assumed these 7025s would be strong tubes with low noise.

When the tubes arrived I tested them using my Orange VT-1000 valve tester, which tests each triode independently, rating them on a scale from 1-15. Tubes that test below 4 Fail, results in 4-7 range indicate Worn or close to worn, and values over 9 are Good tubes.

These 3 tubes tested as:
9/7
9/7
7/7

Not terrible, I suppose, but disappointing for new tubes. Off the shelf Russian Electro Harmonix 12ax7s, for example. are always 9s, 10s at least. So I have now tried theses 7025s in:
Peavey Rockmaster tube preamp
modified Peavey Windsor 100 watt head
stock Ampeg V-50H head

They just don't have the balls or crunch of my other Chinese 12ax7s, and while the noise factor is very low, the sound is lifeless and dull. At this point there isnt anywhere I can use them where they dont sound inferior to something else I already have on hand.

I wish AP could have maybe tested some of these and worked with the vendor to exchange mismatched and or weak tubes for better ones, even if that ups the price. Customers will understand.
