Strat and Les Paul Wiring Diagram

Standard Stratocaster Wiring Scheme

Note about strat tone caps: Using a smaller value of capacitance allows for a brighter sound. Because the voltage produced by the guitar pickup is very small (usually less than one volt at full volume), the capacitor's voltage rating is not significant, unless there are dimensional limitations to consider when mounting.

Modified Strat Wiring Scheme for Dual M&N Taper Blend Pot

Note about dual M and N taper blend pot: It is important to connect to the correct terminal numbers on both sections of the dual pot. At the center detent position the M section measures 250kΩ from terminal 1 to 2 and 0Ω from terminal 2 to 3, while the N section measures 0Ω from terminal 1 to 2 and 250kΩ from terminal 2 to 3.

Position 2ONONONTurn blend pot CW off Detent to fade out neck (Full CCW is silent)
Position 3ONMiddle pickup only (slight change in tone with blend pot change)
Position 4ONONONTurn blend pot CW off Detent to fade out neck (Full CCW is silent)
Position 5ONONTurn blend pot CW off Detent to fade out neck (Full CCW is silent)
* The master tone control is in effect for every switch position and all pickups at once. * The volume pot works normally * "CW" = clockwise, "CCW" = counter-clockwise
