9 pin miniature preamp tube (Amplification Factor = 100). This is the ubiquitous Chinese 12AX7 with added selection. The gain is high and the American "Ruby Tubes" must be filtering out the noisiest ones.

I will say, that after 35 years, and literally thousands of amps modded and made, the chinese tubes are the closest to old smooth plate telefunkens of the new lot...so far, at least.
whoever grades them the best, i guess...
probably worth buying twice as many cheap, and grading em yourself...
