I used this tube in an Epiphone Blues Custom 30. I experimented with several octal rectifier tubes in that amp and they all had an impact on the amps sound and performance. The least impressive in all ways was the chinese 5AR4 it shipped with. The best sounding rectifier tubes were a vintage RCA 5Y3 and this Electroharmonix 5U4GB, and probably the elctroharmonix was the best sounding of the lot, at least in that amp. Its a real shame that so few modern tube amps use a tube rectifier. It is like a drop in Bias adjustment, which is a real plus for cathode biased amps, which are generally more common these days than Fixed bias. especially among the cheaper models. (and alas, it seems the BC30 has joined the heap of electronics history)
