This Russian tube is full bodied and bright with a more straightforward presentation. It packs a lot of bite with its higher-than-normal gain. In overdrive, it offers a lot of crunchy fizz.

i have these in v1 and v3 of my peavey ultra plus and they sound great.. im thinking about getting more to put in my 6505.. i love this tube..

these new Eh 12ax7's are really nice tubes. They sound better then the all the new sensor tubes with the exception of the Tung Sol reissue. But this new EH tube is really nice, super quiet tube, great NOS sound, the break up really nice when distorted. To me this tube is a copy of the early Sylvania 12ax7 blackplates. So for new production 12ax7 tubes the only two I will use are the Tung and the EH. I just dont hear any character in the other tubes. I have yet to try the Gold Pin tubes. I feel if you cant get the general design down, making the pins gold isnt going to change that much. You know, get the tube right before you slap on the Gold PIns. So I will give the new EH a 9/10, and have bought a few more of them. So this might be more accessible then my favorite preamp tube the Yellow Sylvania Blackplates.
